Teaching

I am available to teach a variety of workshops or dance classes at public schools or dance studios. My teaching aims to provide fun, challenging, and creative skills to students, while honoring their agency in the classroom and intentionally facilitating the classroom so that it is a collaboration between myself and the students. I take direction from the verbal and nonverbal cues students give me before and during the class experience.

From 2017 through 2021 I taught dance at Halestone Dance Studio (Lexington, VA). I taught creative movement, modern and contemporary dance, ballet, improvisation, repertory, choreography and composition, and parent-child classes to students as young as 18 months and older than 50. I also designed and taught a variety of creative movement and modern dance classes and workshops in the public schools and preschools.

My teaching style is informed by my experiences as a forest school educator for young children, my research into developmentally appropriate practice, and my volunteer experience as a court appointed special advocate working with young children in the family court system.

I am included on the Virginia Commission for the Arts Teaching Artist Roster. Contact me to set up a workshop or residency at your studio or school.
